United Nations Exhibition
In 2014 German Perez inaugurated his Amen de Mariposas collection at the United Nations in honor of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women. Below is a small excerpt from the press release.
New York (November 1, 2014). The Dominican artist German Perez will exhibit his works dedicated to women at the United Nations, on the occasion of the celebration of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women. During the Perez Exhibition, the United Nations will celebrate the World Conference on Violence Against Women, a forum that will include women from around the world who are active in the global fight against gender-based violence.
The “Amen de Mariposas” exhibition will be inaugurated on November 25 at 6:30 pm and continue through December 5th in the United Nations Kuwait Boat, Conference building 1st ave at 45 street entrance, New York. The exhibit will feature 20 works of Perez focused on the topic of Women, which has been a recurring theme in his artistic career. The date November 25 has particular historical significance as the Permanent Mission of the Dominican Republic to the United Nations established that date as the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women in tribute of the Mirabal Sisters, who symbols of resistance and courage in the Dominican Republic.
