Rome 2016 Amen de Mariposas
The First running of the “Amen de Mariposas” series that has now been exhibited over 10 times over 3 years all across Italy. A series with ProMueve RD an Italian based organization working for the exposure and betterment of Dominican culture across the world, the Amen de Mariposas series debuted at The House of Memories in Italy.
Originally the show debuted at the United Nations in 2014 in honor of the National Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women. The show was continued in Italy in honor of the 3 featured Women in the main painting “Amen de Mariposas”. The 3 Maribel sisters were involved in the political revolution under the dictator Trujillo and subsequently were killed by Trujillo for helping to promote the revolution. After the sadness and frustration this event brought on the Dominican people preformed a coup d’etat against Trujillo and successfully ended his dictatorship.
